We’re super excited to announce that Dr. Magdalena Bak-Maier’s Grid method has been selected for inclusion in the MINDS Conference 2024 which is now available online to support the research and higher education community. MINDS is a group of graduate students, postdocs and professionals with different backgrounds and experiences who are passionate about creating a space to have conversations about mental health in academia, especially students.
“The poster session Magdalena presented was to raise awareness within this audience about the Grid methodology as a stress and overwhelm prevention technique which is showing positive results with academics, researchers, and students.”The poster session Magdalena presented was to raise awareness within this audience about the Grid methodology as a stress and overwhelm prevention technique which is showing positive results with academics, researchers, and students.
Grid is what students need today!
Incredible. Having written about study skills in How to Achieve 100% in a GCSE I didn’t back then have a Grid method. I was studying and I found that I needed to make studying a habit for the studying to happen. However, I pushed myself hard and while I had breaks (in which I prioritised blood flow basically), I also did ridiculous hours that looking back were not something I was very conscious I was doing. I was just doing them. I was just going, going, going. I was in the artificial race of study life running and running.
The Grid method is a structure for how to tap you or someone you care about on the shoulder and suggest at least a thought that there may be another way – that prevention is better than reaction when it comes to the intersection between studying and mental health. With Gen Z barely able to keep up with the race to good grades and a job, the Grid Method is what 2024 needs. Thank you for an excellent workshop with fun and information that was practical and interesting. Thank you for sharing a little of your story to inspire students to notice where they’re at
