I am absolutely amazed how many people give up their dreams. Whether it’s that awesome partner they can envisage or a business they are wanting to create. Or a career. I have heard too many individuals I met talk themselves out of the things they really desire and want. You know what I’m talking about.
“This won’t work”
“I’ll have to do all the work”
“What if I get hurt?”
“What if it doesn’t work out”
“I’m too busy, too tired, too stressed”
“It’s all just too bloody complicated!”
Well you know as well as I that life is always complicated. That’s why they call it life. It gets easier when we’re dead. We no longer feel disappointment, pain, rapture and delight. Life becomes a static line like the pulse on your deathbed.
But while you’re alive, why not go for what your heart really wants. Why not tune into yourself and express the dream of that idyllic life you desire. It’s ironic how many times looking into the same life, others would laugh saying
“But you basically have it!”
“It is there for the taking.”
“Go on! Trust yourself. Trust others.”
Connect. Reach out. Skip down the corridor. Meet the sunrise for a one-on-one moment. Listen to your lovers heartbeat while they are still sleeping. Contemplate your work plan. Make your family an awesome breakfast. Make that key business phone call.
Be alive!
Live with 100% of your lungs capacity and 100% of your heart too.
Don’t wait a second.
You never know what may happen tomorrow. Let’s face it, tomorrow is just today repeated unless you make a change NOW. Start small. Start big. Do as much or as little as you can. Find quality time. Live. Love. Have fun! You will be hugely productive in that childlike innocence and laughter. In the joy that a genuine smile and connection can bring into your life and your work lies a lottery ticket of happiness.
We have come to a point in the world where there is far too little connection between people. It’s all texts and e-mails. It’s all depersonalised. Politically correct. Safe! Our open plan offices are isolating us more than closed door cubicles. We feel perpetually on display. Everyone watches others and norms to what’s acceptable. What’s permissible. What’s within the bounds.
All this makes life boring and predictable and in the end very routine. So make time count and claim your dream. Only you can. And if you’re in doubt read my poem Choices on this blog. Happy Wednesday.
